Recital Rules: 

  1.  Mark your name on all costumes, shoes, hats, props, etc. in a place that is not visible when you are on stage. 

  2.  No gum 

  3.  Diamond-like stud earrings will be the only allowed jewelry. 

  4.  No underwear showing under costumes.

  5.  Makeup should be applied at home to avoid dressing room clutter.

  6.  No students wandering in costume in the auditorium, lobby or hallways. If you are not on stage, you should be in          the  dressing room or the holding area. Please, no friends or non-performing siblings in the dressing rooms.

  7.  All dancers are required to stay at rehearsals until dismissed by the director. On performance day, all dancers are       required to stay until completion of the finale at the end of the show.

  8.  Do not bring valuables with you to rehearsal or performance.

  9.  No food or drinks inside the auditorium or dressing rooms. If dancers must eat, they should first change out of            costume. 

  10.  No smoking anywhere on school grounds.

  11.  Keep dressing rooms neat. Use the garbage cans provided and keep personal items in your dance bags. Please clean    up after yourself.   Don’t leave food, trash anywhere in the backstage area.  If we are in a teachers classroom please     do  not move equipment, write on boards etc

  12.  Do not bring valuables.

  13.  All seats are reserved. An usher will help audience members find their seats.

  14.  No video or photography allowed in the auditorium during dress rehearsal or recital. 

  15.  Dancers should not be seen in the lobby or theater in costume on show date until after the show (unless they are          entering or exiting the building). Costumed dancers must stay backstage and treat their recital as a professional          performance. There will be no viewing of the show by dancers from the audience. Dancers can watch other                  numbers   from the audience at dress rehearsal if the show line-up permits. 

  16.  Remember to use the washrooms before the show, way in advance of any performance and during intermission. 

  17.  Please be respectful to your backstage volunteers.   Inform your backstage Mom if you need to leave the dressing          area  for any reason.   They are there to make sure you get to the stage on time and help with any hair or costume        issues. 

  18.  TAP SHOES ARE NOT TO BE WORN ON ANY OF THE FLOOR AREAS OF THE SCHOOL.   TAP SHOES ARE TO BE            CARRIED AND WHEN YOU GET TO THE MARLEY (GREY VINYL FLOORING) YOU MAY PUT YOUR SHOES ON.           AFTER YOUR PERFORMANCE, PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SHOES AGAIN ON THE MARLEY AND CARRY THEM

        BACK  TO  YOUR BACKSTAGE AREA.

 

Recital Hair and Make-Up

Unless otherwise determined by your dancers’ instructor:

All ballet dancers are to have their hair in a bun.   

All dancers should wear pink or rose lipstick & pink blush.

Group 4 and up  dancers should wear mascara, brown or mauve eye shadow, base if necessary, and eyebrow pencil to darken eyebrows if necessary.

 Group 3 and below dancers are not required to, but may wear mascara and brown or mauve eye shadow.   Dancers should not wear blue or green eye shadow.

Some classes have specific instructions for hair & make-up.   Please consult your child’s instructor for specific instructions. 

 

Do not send makeup in your child’s dance bag - EVER! It will ruin their costumes if the younger dancers decide to play with it.

Shoes and Tights 

Unless otherwise specified by instructor: 
Ballet:  pink tights & pink ballet shoes (not slippers)
Tap:  tan tights & black tap shoes
Jazz: tan tights & tan jazz shoes
Hip Hop: black hip hop or Converse shoes
Modern: barefoot

Lyrical: barefoot

If your Dancer has more then 1 costume you are required to have a NUDE UNDERGARMENT/ LEOTARD.
